velkommen til bornholm!
before i lose the wireless again, pictures first!
we're gg on a road trip! thats wendy, sam and hide (hee-dey, not hyde) on the bornholmerbussen toward ystad, sweden. we crossed the oresund bridging sweden and denmark. that took sth like 2-3hrs to get to ystad, and on the bornholmer traffikken ferrying us from ystad to bornholm. nothing so spectacular, except that the ferry was made in western australia. the australians (aimee and wendy) were highly amused.
thats us, backpackers finally in ronne. it was drizzling, cold and we were hungry. we made it to sam's corner, and thats sam downing a first of many pizzas to come during this trip. hide has a very very sweet tooth. its usual for him to buy 2 bars of chocolate after each meal and eat them for dessert. crazy japaner!!! wendy and sam walking ahead to find the campsite. wendy has one big assed backpack. its the length of my legs. some pics of architecture in ronne. basically, houses in bornholm, buildings alike look like they come out of a fairytale. complete with the cobblestones. but cycling on cobblestones really really sucks.
here we are cycling from ronne to hasle, which is something abt 10km away and to the harbourside at sunset. pretty huh? both hide and i were dumb enough to only bring flipflops (i with jill's birks) and we got our feet really dirty cycling in the forest. hide's trying to wash his feet.
thats a view from our window at the cabin. it was raining again. our breakfast at store torv (big square) in ronne. this was sunday and EVERYTHING is closed on sunday except for a few (very few) shops. the weather's looking good and we're pretty smiley. the road to allinge and sandvig and jons kappel. which is 23km away from ronne. observe many a green field, pasture, clouds and trees. it just goes on and on and on. and cycling downhill with the wind in your ears!! pphhooaarrr! indescribable. we made it down to jons kappel (a cliff formation) after walking in muddy upslope because it was raining like shit (mind my language). nothing was going through my head, just getting. that. stupid. bike. up. to. the. top. of. the. freak. ing. hill. by then, the weather got better, so here's some views of jons kappel for you.
we finally made it to allinge!!!!! mega achievement in a lifetime. that was were i tagged that we did 30km inclusive of that detour to jons kappel. look at us man, happy and relieved and tucking into burgers. pizza, burgers, burgers, pizza. cheap and hot. we ate so much of them in bornholm. the japanese tourist taking photos of his maxi burger. taking it easy and chilling out in allinge. the weather always gets better in the afternoon, so check out the skies. magnificent rolling clouds. aimee and her haribo, i cant remember how many packets she downed during our trip!!! my extremely dirty feet. its prolly stained brown forever.
the next day we moved out from ronne to dueodde, which is famed for its long long beaches and white sand so fine it was used in hourglasses. as usual, im just parroting what the lonely planet says. LP was very very handy in picking out the places to eat man. anyway sam and hide look very promiscuious! our little home for the next 2 days. unfortunately we ran into 3 school camps running simulanteously. noisy buggers!!!!! we took the bus to gudhjem and melsted for a day out and thats me with my pancakes at the pankagehuset. absolutely yummy! and wendy at the famous karamel kompaignet which does handmade caramels. its simply a tourist trap, but heck! we came all the way here didnt we?
bornholm's famed for glassblowing and ceramics also. basically when they stopped smoking too much fish, they decided to put some glass into the oven and voila! out comes the glassmaking industry. the glass is very very pretty and magical considering the way they persuade the melted glass to twist and turn into desired shapes. i will never look at glass the same way again. :)

random pictures of us at the art museum in gudhjem and just wasting mb worth of space on our cameras. if you can make sam and hide skipping stones at the bottom. life's little pleasures of chilling in the wind.
we visited the osterlars rundkirken while we were at gudhjem. basically its a mushroom shaped church, and there's only 4 in bornholm. obviously, it can only be found in bornholm. even though it smelled pretty horse-pooey, it was kinda cute going up the church and taking pictures through the windows.
sunset shots!!! most of them are probably the same sunset just from different angles. there's something abt the sun that reminds me that God's always in control, y'know.
our 2nd last day where we took to the bike again and headed for snogebaek, nexo and svaneke. relatively easy way up to svaneke coz we took generous rest stops along the way.
phew, im not really done blogging, there's some particular pics that i want to put up, but this will do for the time being. need to get my laundry DONE! till then!
